Mandy Mangru’s Personal Details:
Full Name: Mandy Mangru
Born: 22 September 1999
Batting Style: Right-hand bat
Bowling Style: Right-arm off-break
Role: Wicketkeeper-batter

Mandy Mangru is one of the newer faces in the West Indies women’s setup and serves primarily as a wicketkeeper-batter. Hailing from Guyana, she developed through the regional cricket pathway and established herself as a reliable performer for Guyana in domestic competitions before earning opportunities at the international level. Her consistent performances in regional cricket led to selection in Cricket West Indies’ High-Performance Programme in 2021, followed by a place in the West Indies A squad against Pakistan later that year.
Mandy Mangru’s International Career
Mangru made her ODI debut against South Africa in February 2022 and was subsequently named as a reserve player for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. She remained on the fringes of the senior squad over the next few years before finally making her WT20I debut during the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup against Bangladesh. Her inclusion reflected the selectors’ desire to strengthen the team’s wicketkeeping depth while also developing younger players capable of contributing in multiple white-ball formats.
From a T20 perspective, Mangru is still at the beginning of her international career. She has played 9 T20Is, scoring 21 runs from five innings. While her batting numbers are modest, her primary contribution has come behind the stumps, where she has already taken 6 catches in her first nine T20 internationals. Her safe glove work and ability to handle spin-heavy bowling attacks are viewed as key strengths.
Unlike several members of the West Indies squad, Mangru is not selected primarily for her power-hitting or bowling contributions. Instead, her value lies in her wicketkeeping skills, game awareness, and ability to provide stability when required. She has occasionally bowled off-spin in domestic cricket, but this has not yet become part of her role at international level.
At franchise level, Mangru has had limited opportunities in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League, featuring in three matches for Barbados Royals. The experience of playing alongside established international cricketers has been important for her development.
Looking ahead to a T20 World Cup in England, Mangru is likely to play a supporting role within the squad rather than being one of West Indies’ headline performers. If selected in the playing XI, her primary responsibility will be to provide reliable wicketkeeping and contribute useful lower-order runs when required. Mangru’s sharp glovework could prove valuable in English conditions where edges and chances behind the wicket tend to be more frequent. As she gains more experience at the highest level, she has the opportunity to establish herself as a long-term wicketkeeping option for West Indies in white-ball cricket.
