Jahzara Claxton is one of the most exciting young prospects in Caribbean cricket. Born in St Kitts and Nevis, she has excelled in both cricket and football, representing her country internationally in each sport. A dynamic athlete, Claxton made history as the first female cricketer from the Leeward Islands selected for the West Indies Under-19 squad and later became the first woman from St Kitts and Nevis to play international cricket for West Indies. Her performances at youth level, particularly during the inaugural ICC Under-19 Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023, established her as one of the region’s brightest emerging talents.

Jahzara Claxton’s International Career

Claxton earned her maiden senior West Indies call-up in 2025 and quickly showcased her potential as a pace-bowling all-rounder. She has played 13 T20Is, taking 12 wickets at an average of 21.41 and a strike rate of 16.0, impressive numbers for a player still in the early stages of her international career. Her best figures of 3 for 39 against South Africa demonstrated her ability to make breakthroughs with the new ball and in the middle overs.

While her batting opportunities have been limited, Claxton has shown flashes of power and intent lower down the order, scoring 51 runs at a strike rate of 92.72. More importantly, her athleticism in the field has added another dimension to her game, with five catches already to her name.

Claxton has represented both Barbados Royals and Trinbago Knight Riders in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League, gaining valuable experience alongside some of the world’s leading players. Across eight WCPL matches, she has contributed with both bat and ball, scoring 35 runs at a strike rate of 120.68 and taking three wickets.
