Heather Knight is one of the most respected players in England women’s cricket. She is known for calm batting, smart leadership, and performing well in big matches. Heather led England for almost nine years and became one of the team’s most successful captains.

Heather started playing cricket at a young age in Devon. Her strong batting and game understanding helped her move quickly into professional cricket. She made her England debut against India in 2010 and soon became a regular player in all formats.

She has played for many teams around the world, including London Spirit Women, Sydney Thunder Women, Hobart Hurricanes Women, Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women, and Somerset Women.

One of the biggest moments of Heather’s career came in 2013 when she scored 157 against Australia in an Ashes Test match. Her gritty innings helped England save the match and later regain the Ashes.

Heather also played a major role in England’s 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup victory. During the tournament, she scored her first ODI century and led England to the title at Lord’s.

In 2020, Heather became the first England woman to score centuries in all three international formats after making an unbeaten 108 against Thailand in the T20 World Cup.

She remained England captain until early 2025 and led the team in many major tournaments, including the Commonwealth Games, Women’s Ashes, ODI World Cup, and T20 World Cup.

Heather Knight made her T20I debut for England against Sri Lanka on 22 November 2010. Since then, she has become one of England’s most experienced T20 players.

So far, Heather has played 135 T20I matches and scored 2393 runs at an average close to 27. She has scored 1 century and 8 half-centuries in T20 internationals. Her highest score is an unbeaten 108.

Heather is known for building innings calmly and finishing games under pressure. She can also score quickly when needed and plays an important role in England’s middle order.

She has also taken 21 wickets with her off-spin bowling in T20Is. Her best bowling figures are 3 wickets for 9 runs. Along with batting and bowling, she is also a safe fielder.

Heather Knight T20’s Career

Heather has also enjoyed success in franchise T20 cricket around the world. In the Women’s Big Bash League, she has scored more than 2500 runs and hit 16 half-centuries.

In The Hundred, she has scored 597 runs for London Spirit Women at a strike rate above 130. She has also played in the Women’s Premier League for Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women.

Before the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, Heather Knight returned from injury and played against New Zealand in May 2026. She scored useful innings of 28, 25, and 19 during the series.
