India vs Pakistan in Women’s T20 World Cup – Who’s better?

With not even one month remaining to the 6th edition of women’s cricket T20 world cup, all teams are geared up for the biggest tournament of the year. The tournament starts with India taking on New Zealand on 9th November. Next, India plays against Pakistan on 11th November. Fans would be waiting for the most high-voltage encounter. However, talking about T20 format, Statistics and numbers speak in favor of India. India has won 8 out of 10 matches played between India and Pakistan in the T20 format. We bring to you the flashback of all the one-on-matches between India and Pakistan in the T20 world cup.

India vs Pakistan in Women's T20 World Cup - Who's better?

13th June,2009- India won by 5 wickets
India and Pakistan, both in Group B and played against each other at Taunton, England. India won the group match by 5 wickets. Pakistan had won the toss and made the rival put to bowl first. Batting first, women in green made 75 runs. India made 78 with 5 wickets down in 17.4 overs. Anjum Chopra stays the highest run scorer in the match after she made not out 37 runs.

8th May, 2010- India won by 9 wickets
Pakistan chose to bat first after winning the toss in a group stage match of group B in the second edition of the T20 world cup. Pakistan women gave Indian women a target of 105 runs after playing for 20 overs. India comfortably chased it down in 16.4 overs with a fall of only one wicket. Poonam Raut gave a stellar performance with her unbeatable 54 runs in 54 balls and became player of the match.

10th October, 2012- Pakistan won by 1 run.
The jittery ending to the group match where Pakistan beat India by just 1 run. Making 98 runs in the first innings, after winning the toss, Pakistan women defended the low total at Galle, Sri Lanka. Nida Dar was declared Player of the match for taking wickets and conceding 12 runs in 4 overs.

2nd April, 2014- India won by 6 runs
The qualification play-off was played at Sylhet, Bangladesh between India and Pakistan. India women won the toss and opted to bat first. India made 106 runs with 7 wickets down in 20 overs. Pakistan could only manage to put up 100 on the board with a fall of 9 wickets. Soniya Dabir took home the player of the match award with her 3 wicket haul conceding only 14 runs.

19th March, 2016- Pakistan won by 2 runs (D/L)
Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground. Women in Blue gave Pakistan women a target of 97 to win. However, rain halted the match in the 16th over of second innings. Pakistan was ahead of India by 2 runs as per the Duckworth-Lewis method. Anam Amin won Player of the match for her economical bowling, giving away only 9 runs in 4 overs and taking up 1 wicket too.

With Numbers speaking in favour of India, Pakistan would also step on field after playing a T20 series with an experienced side of Australia women. It would be interesting to see if the numbers and tables turn this time.
