Northern Superchargers led by skipper Hollie Armitage defeated the Manchester Originals led by skipper Sophie Ecclestone by 46 runs at Headingley, Leeds in the 16th match of the tournament. Welsh Fire led by skipper Tammy Beaumont were all set to face Southern Brave led by skipper Georgia Adams at the Sophia Gardens, Cardiff in the 17th match of the season.

Welsh Fire skipper Tammy Beaumont won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, Southern Brave got off to a poor start as they lost a couple of wickets cheaply, including the wicket of Smriti Mandhana for a first-ball duck. Skipper Georgia Adams joined Danielle Wyatt at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 28-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to lead some sort of a recovery for their side.

Georgia Davis picked up the wicket of the opening batter Danielle Wyatt to provide the 3rd breakthrough for Welsh Fire. Freya Kemp joined skipper Georgia Adams at the crease and the duo stitched a 13-run partnership for the 4th wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. Hayley Matthews picked up the wicket of Freya Kemp to provide the 4th breakthrough for her side.

Southern Brave suffered a horrible collapse as they lost their last six wickets for 30 runs. As a result, they were bundled out for just 84 runs with nine balls to spare. Skipper Georgia Adams (17 off 18 balls), Danielle Wyatt (14 off 14 balls), Freya Kemp (11 off 10 balls), and Chloe Tryon (9 off 8 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Southern Brave.

Hayley Matthews (20-12-16-3), Jess Jonassen (16-9-14-2), Freya Davies (15-9-12-2), and Georgia Davis (20-8-22-1) were the top performers with the ball for Welsh Fire. Chasing a target of 85, Welsh Fire got off to a poor start as they lost the wicket of Sophia Dunkley on the 5th ball of the run chase. Lauren Cheatle provided the first breakthrough for Southern Brave.

Hayley Matthews joined skipper Tammy Beaumont at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 23-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Tily Corteen-Coleman picked up the wicket of Hayley Matthews to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side. Wicket-keeper batter Sarah Bryce joined skipper Tammy Beaumont at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 31-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark.

Lauren Cheatle came back and cleaned up Tammy Beaumont to provide the big breakthrough of the opposition skipper. Jess Jonassen joined the wicket-keeper batter Sarah Bryce at the crease and the duo took their side over the line with a 29-run 4th wicket partnership. Welsh Fire got over the line with seven wickets in hand and 10 balls to spare.

Skipper Tammy Beaumont (36 off 34 balls), wicket-keeper batter Sarah Bryce (20 off 27 balls), and Jess Jonassen (13 off 10 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Welsh Fire. Lauren Cheatle (20-15-8-2), Tily Corteen-Coleman (20-10-21-1), and skipper Georgia Adams (20-10-17-0) were the top performers with the ball for Southern Brave.

Hayley Matthews was awarded the Player of the Match for her match-winning spell (20-12-16-3) with the ball. She played a crucial role in helping her side over the line.
