The Netherlands women led by skipper Babette de Leede is hosting Papua New Guinea and Scotland for a tri-nation series. It includes a six-match ODI series followed by a two-match T20I series. The series commenced on 5th August 2024 and will conclude on 15th August 2024.

The Netherlands skipper Babette de Leede won the toss and opted to field first in the 1st ODI at the Sportspark Maarschalkerweerd, Utrecht. After being inserted to bat first, Papua New Guinea got off to a poor start, as they lost their top-order inside the powerplay. Pauke Siaka joined Naoani Vare at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 25-run partnership for the 4th wicket. Caroline de Lange picked up the wicket of Naoani Vare to provide the 4th breakthrough for the Netherlands.

Kevau Frank joined Pauke Siaka at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 28-run partnership for the 5th wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. Caroline de Lange picked up the wicket of Pauke Siaka to provide the 5th breakthrough for her side. Kevau Frank soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 6th breakthrough for the Netherlands.

Henao Thomas joined Vicky Araa at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 56-run partnership for the 7th wicket to take their side past the 120-run mark. Hannah Landheer cleaned up Henao Thomas to provide the 7th breakthrough for her side. Papua New Guinea were eventually bundled out for 148 with 87 balls to spare. Henao Thomas (30 off 32 balls), Pauke Siaka (26 off 37 balls), Naoani Vare (21 off 43 balls), and Vicky Araa (16 off 24 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Papua New Guinea.

Iris Zwilling (10-3-29-3), Hannah Landheer (9.3-0-26-3), and Caroline de Lange (7-0-34-2) were the top performers with the ball for the Netherlands. Chasing a target of 149, the Netherlands got off to a poor start as they lost their top order inside the first four overs of the run chase. Iris Zwilling joined Robine Rijke at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 35-run partnership for the fourth wicket to take their side close to the 50-run mark.

Isabel Toua cleaned up Iris Zwilling to provide the 4th breakthrough for Papua New Guinea. Annemijn Thomson joined Robine Rijke at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 35-run partnership for the 5th wicket to take their side close to the 100-run mark. Pauke Siaka cleaned up Annemijn Thomson to provide the 5th breakthrough for her side.

Frederique Overdijk joined Robine Rijke at the crease and the duo stitched another crucial 29-run partnership for the 6th wicket to take their side past the 100-run mark. Vicky Buruka picked up the wicket of Robine Rijke to provide the 6th breakthrough for Papua New Guinea. Frederique Overdijk soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 7th breakthrough for Papua New Guinea.

Eva Lynch joined Caroline de Lange at the crease and the duo took their side over the line with a 25-run 8th wicket partnership. The Netherlands sealed the game by three wickets and 77 balls to spare. Robine Rijke (60 off 75 balls), Eva Lynch (17 off 11 balls), Frederique Overdijk (16 off 37 balls), and Annemijn Thomson (10 off 19 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the Netherlands.

Geua Tom (9-1-29-2), Vicky Buruka (7-0-22-2), Pauke Siaka (8-2-22-1), and Isabel Toua (4.1-0-32-2) were the top performers with the ball for Papua New Guinea. Robine Rijke was awarded the Player of the Match for her match-winning performance (60 off 75 balls) with the bat for the Netherlands. She played a crucial role in helping her side get over the line in the first game against Papua New Guinea.
