London Spirit faced the Birmingham Phoenix in the fifth match of The Hundred (Women’s) 2024. The Heather Knight-led Spirit registered a 20-run victory over the Phoenix, making it two wins in two matches whereas the Phoenix suffered their second consecutive defeat of the season.

1) Meg Lanning 53 (London Spirit)
The former Australian captain struck her first fifty in the competition, smashing 53 off 41 balls against the Phoenix. Her innings included seven boundaries & one six and was the top-scorer for her side. Meg Lanning’s knock helped her side to put up a total of 147. Later on, she received the Player of the Match award.

2) Ellyse Perry 65 (Birmingham Phoenix)
Going wicketless, yet economical, the Phoenix skipper had a bittersweet outing with the ball, but she had a phenomenal outing with the bat scoring 65. Coming into bat at 4, the Australian all-rounder was involved in an 89-run stand with Sophie Devine for the third wicket. Ellyse Perry smashed eight boundaries & one six during her innings. Though in a losing cause, Perry’s knock had kept her side in the game.

3) Sarah Glenn 3/22 (London Spirit)
A dream English summer continuous for the English leg spinner. Sarah Glenn scalped three wickets against the Phoenix finishing with figures of 3 for 22. Her first wicket came in the form of Sophie Devine for 37 which also broke the 89-run stand between Devine & Ellyse Perry. Later on, she dismissed the Birmingham skipper Ellyse Perry for 65 and off the very next ball handed Emily Arlott a golden duck. Her spell played an important role in Spirit’s 20-run victory over Birmingham Phoenix.
