The inaugural event of Gulf Cup was held in 2014 which was hosted by Oman and saw 4 teams (Oman, UAE, Kuwait, and Qatar) participating in it. UAE went on to defeat Kuwait by 49 Runs to lift the inaugural trophy of the Gulf Cup.

In 2015, Qatar hosted the tournament and UAE went on to defeat the hosts Qatar by 5 Wickets to retain the trophy.

In the 2016 edition, the tournament also saw guest teams from Kenya, Malaysia, Uganda participate along with the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar and it was played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Kenya won the title beating UAE by 5 Wickets in the Final.
