The Multi-talented Cricket Star – Jemimah Rodrigues

Cricket is a game with the unparalleled competition. One mistake and your side seems in jeopardy. There has been a very small number of players who cement their place in an Indian batting line-up. It took a batsman like Virat Kohli to play at number 3 and make his mark. In the female squad, we have Jemimah Rodrigues.

Fans and cricket lovers will know her from her on-field heroics and off-the-field stints. She has been the go-to-girl for social media. She hasn’t been disappointing in the lockdown as well. With Indian star and her best friend Smriti Mandhana, she has been hosting a hit show on YouTube named Double Trouble. She has a very joyful connection with her brothers. Social media has been enjoying the chemistry of their siblings. In the lockdown, people have enjoyed a closer picture of the real-life of the Indian batter.

Her dad helps her to practice nowadays and tapes the ball for her daughter. Her childhood was in Bhandup, Mumbai where she was brought up with her two brothers. She was a gifted child and the traits were visible in her early childhood. She played season Cricket when she was just 4. Her dad had always been supportive and the family moved to a new corner of the city to avail the best cricketing facilities.

She had been coached by her dad from the early days. He was the junior coach for the school. Jemimah spent her childhood days bowling to others and made her way into the school side. As a child, she was into cricket and hockey as well. Gradually, as life went ahead, Jemimah had to choose between hockey and cricket. She was selected for the Maharashtra under-17 team and the under-19 hockey side. She made her debut in under-19 Cricket when she was just 12-and-a-half years old.

It was the 2012-13 cricket season. Sooner, she made her way into the state under-19 Cricket team. Her career came into the spotlight when she became the second Indian woman to smash a double century in limited-overs Cricket. It was in Aurangabad and she had scored 178 in the previous match. She, then, got her name the Indian squad for the three-match ODI series against South Africa to be played in February 2018.

She made her T20I debut against South Africa Women on 13 February 2018. In ODIs, her debut came against Australian women on 12 March 2018. Her world cup start was in 2018 when she was in the 2018 T20 world cup side to be played in West Indies. As the tournament ended, she was named as the standout player of the team from ICC.

In 2018, she was signed by Sports Marketing firm Baseline Ventures. It showed her extraordinary achievements in the sporting field. She is an integral part of the Indian side and was part of the recent T20 world cup held in Australia. She is one of the most fun-loving characters of the Indian side and her presence on camera is loved by fans throughout the web. Personally, Jemimah is not fond of being called a senior, and fans wish her to be young and active for eternity.

Jemimah recently impressed everyone with her singing skills when she recorded a video and it was shared by BCCI.
