List of Top Catches taken by Women Cricketers over the years

In the world of cricket, it is a popular saying that “catches win matches”. On Friday, India’s Harleen Deol took a stellar catch at the boundary to dismiss England’s Amy Jones in the first T20I of the three-match series. Though India lost the match by DLS, Deol’s catch has taken the internet by storm.

But this is not the first time that a female cricketer has grabbed a stunner.

Let’s look at some of the best catches taken by the women cricketers over the years.

1. Smriti Mandhana

India’s Smriti Mandhana pulled off a stunning catch to dismiss England batter Natalie Sciver for 49 in the 3rd ODI in Worcester on July 3, 2021. India went on to win the match by four wickets.

2. Jemimah Rodrigues

India’s Jemimah Rodrigues held on to a skier at the boundary to dismiss South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp in the fifth T20I that was played on February 24, 2018 at Cape Town off Rumeli Dhar’s bowling. Kapp was out for 27.

 

3. Fran Wilson

England’s Fran Wilson took a fast reflex catch at cover point to dismiss West Indies’ Hayley Mattews off the bowling of Kate Cross in the third ODI at Chelmsford. Matthews was out for six.

4. Tahlia McGrath

In WBBL season 6, Adelaide Strikers’ Tahlia McGrath took a well-synchronized catch to see the back of Brisbane Heat’s Amelia Kerr. McGrath took the catch off Amanda Wellington’s bowling during the match that was played on November 7, 2020

5. Sarah Taylor

England’s wicket-keeper Sarah Taylor stretched full length to her right to take an unbelievable catch to get rid of Australia’s Jodie Fields during the third ODI that was played at Hove on August 25, 2013. Field was out for 27 off the bowling off Danielle Hazell.

6. Laura Wolvaardt

South Africa’s Laura Wolvaardt took a stunning catch at covers to dismiss Thailand’s captain Sornnarin Tippoch off the bowling of Nonkululeko Mlaba. Wolvaardt took this catch during a group stage game of the ICC World T20 on February 28, 2020, at Canberra.

7. Harleen Deol

India’s Harleen Deol displayed an outstanding effort on the field on July 9, 2021 when she took a blinder of a catch to dismiss England’s well-set Amy Ellen Jones and prevented her from reaching fifty.
