The Canada Women’s tour of Uganda 2025 has opened with a lively start, setting the tone for a promising T20I series that bridges two rapidly rising associates in women’s cricket. Uganda began their home campaign with authority, sealing a seven-wicket win in the 1st T20I to assert early control in the five-match contest.

Players to watch out:
Janet Mbabazi
The Uganda skipper guided her side over the line with an unbeaten 37* (34 balls) in a run chase. Overall, she has been a prolific contributor with the bat, scoring 1,373 runs as well as with the ball, picking up 114 wickets, for her side, and a vast experience of 108 T20Is for her country. She is yet again poised to play a crucial role if Uganda are to extend their lead in the five-match series.
Kevin Amuge
The 20-year-old youngster delivered a match-defining spell of 4-0-17-4 with the ball and also picked up a couple of catches in the field. As a result, she was awarded the Player of the Match. She is fairly new to international cricket yet has already made waves in the cricket fraternity back home with her incisive spells.
Achini Perera
She has been improving with the bat in the format, with 211 runs to her name so far. She also has the potential to chip in with the ball. She picked up one wicket in her spell in the previous game and scored 13 runs with the bat at the top of the order. She could yet again be a vital prospect for Canada.
Amarpal Kaur
The Canadian skipper top-scored with the bat for her side in the previous game and returned with an impressive spell of 2-0-9-1. However, it unfortunately wasn’t enough for her side to get over the line. She would be keen to lead her side from the front and this time around and turn the result in her side’s favour to level the series.
Pitch:
The pitch at Lugogo Cricket Oval offers a balanced contest, beginning with helpful conditions for seam bowlers due to its lively grass cover. As the match unfolds, the surface tends to flatten, allowing batters to play their strokes more freely and accumulating runs becomes easier. In the latter stages, spinners are likely to come into play as the wicket provides turn, making adaptability key for both bowling attacks and batting lineups.
Weather:
With light rain expected and a temperature hovering around 29°C, the atmosphere will be warm and muggy. Humidity levels near 97% and moderate winds at 10 km/h could make grip and fielding tricky, particularly under a damp outfield. While the 45% chance of precipitation raises some concern over minor interruptions.
