Pakistan Women played the first match of the 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh in Lahore. The match which was played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore had free entry. It was also live telecast online on Pakistan Cricket Board’s official YouTube channel.
The openers didn’t give Pakistan a good start as both Ameen and Javeria Khan departed within 3 overs courtesy Jahanara Alam’s bowling. Captain Bismah Maroof and Omaima Sohail then took the innings forward. While Maroof made 34 runs in 29 balls, Sohail hit 33 runs facing 36 deliveries. Iram Javed hit two 6’s in her 17-ball 21 knock and number 9 batter Sidra Nawaz remained not out on 16(5).
Bangladesh’s Jahanara Alam was splendid with the ball. The medium-pacer showed the world her brilliance as she scalped 4 wickets giving only 17 runs in her 4 over spell. Pakistan finished on 126/7.
Bangladesh openers also could not give their team a promising start as both Shamima Sultana and Ayasha Rahman departed after scoring 4 and 1 respectively. But Rumana Ahmed took control of the game as she hit a brilliant half-century. She made 50 runs in 30 balls and took the game deep. Earlier Sanjida Islam 14(29) and Nigar Sultana 17(30) also made valuable runs.
It was a complete bowling effort from Pakistan as all the bowlers shared 7 wickets among themselves. Bangladesh could only make 112 runs in 20 overs losing 7 wickets. Pakistan won over Bangladesh by 14 runs.
