Nigar Sultana Joty’s unbeaten half-century takes the visitors to a respectable total
The Bangladesh openers Sobhana Mostary and the wicket-keeper batter Dilara Akter got their side off to a steady start with a 19-run opening partnership after skipper Nigar Sultana Joty won the toss and opted to bat first. Skipper Hayley Matthews picked up the wicket of Dilara Akter to provide the first breakthrough for the West Indies. Sharmin Akhter joined Sobhana Mostary at the crease and the duo took their side closer to the 50-run mark with a crucial 24-run partnership for the 2nd wicket. Afy Fletcher removed the opening batter Sobhana Mostary (22 off 21 balls) to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.
The visitors, Bangladesh just finished with a decent total of 144/3 in their quota of 20 overs, courtesy of skipper Niger Sultana Joty’s brisk unbeaten half-century (53* off 40 balls) which took them closer to the 150-run mark. It is her 9th half-century in the format. They lacked the impetus to the innings despite a massive 92-run partnership for the 3rd wicket between Sharmin Akter (37 off 41 balls) and skipper Nigar Sultana Joty.
Deandra Dottin (4-0-13-0) was economical with the ball, while Afy Fletcher (4-0-30-1), Cherry-Ann Fraser (3-0-23-1), and Hayley Matthews (4-0-36-1) were the wicket-takers for the West Indies.

The West Indies openers Qiana Joseph and skipper Hayley Matthews got their side off to a solid start with a 63-run opening partnership, the pair scored at around 8 runs an over. Fahima Khatun broke the standby sending Qiana Joseph back to the pavilion to provide the first breakthrough for Bangladesh in the 9th over of the run chase.
The home side eventually got over the line with 8 wickets in hand and 19 balls to spare. Deandra Dottin (51* off 22 balls) and skipper Hayley Matthews (60* off 54 balls) steered the home side over the line with a power-packed unbeaten 72-run partnership for the 3rd wicket. Both batters notched up their respective 16th and 14th half-centuries in the format. Deandra Dottin’s half-century is also the fastest in the format by a West Indies, as she blazed away to the landmark in just 21 balls, with her knock including 7 towering maximums.
Fahima Khatun (3-1-15-2) was the top performer with the ball for Bangladesh. The visitors were below-par in the field as they failed to hang on to the opportunities in the field.
Deandra Dottin was awarded the Player of the Match for her whirlwind half-century of 51* off 22 balls with the bat and an impressive spell of 4-0-13-0 with the ball for her side.
