Fresh off a successful home white-ball series against Sri Lanka, T20 World Cup champions New Zealand are set to conclude their 2024-25 home season with a three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series against Australia, starting on March 21.

New Zealand recently faced Sri Lanka in a three-match T20I series, which concluded earlier this week. While the decider, the third T20I, was washed out due to rain, the hosts avoided a series defeat by securing a comfortable seven-wicket win in the second match, successfully chasing 113 after losing the series opener.
Australia, on the other hand, played arch-rivals England in their most recent bilateral series earlier this year, in January and February 2025. They dominated the T20I series, completing a 3-0 whitewash with commanding 57- and 72-run victories, contributing to an unprecedented 16-0 series sweep across all formats.
Head-to-head:
Australia holds the upper hand in their T20I head-to-head record, with 29 wins compared to New Zealand’s 21 from 52 matches. Their last bilateral series, held in September 2024 on Australian soil, saw the hosts dominate with a 3-0 clean sweep.
Australia also claimed victory in their most recent clash, securing a commanding 60-run win while defending 148 at the T20 World Cup. However, they hold the bragging rights, having clinched their maiden T20 World Cup title.
