Taking first use of the pitch, the Hurricanes relied heavily on a composed opening stand to set up their innings. Kate Pelle and Ella Hayward laid a solid foundation, negotiating the early overs with patience and accumulating a 49-run opening partnership off 52 deliveries. Hayward scored 20 off 23 balls (2 fours) before Shivani Mehta provided ACT Women with their opening breakthrough by castling Hayward in the 9th over (49/1, 8.4 ov). Rachel Trenaman then joined forces with Pelle to maintain the momentum.

The pair stitched together a crucial 35-run partnership off 32 balls for the second wicket, taking the team past the 80-run mark. ACT Women clawed their way back into the match through off-spinner Anesu Mushangwe, who removed Trenaman for 16 (17 balls, 2 fours) in the 14th over (84/2, 13.6 ov). Captain Heather Graham came in at number four and added 12 runs off 12 balls (1 four) alongside Pelle in a swift 28-run stand off 21 balls. However, Amber Smith ended Graham’s stay in the 18th over, caught by Mehta (112/3, 17.3 ov). This triggered a late-order wobble.

Kate Pelle remained the mainstay of the innings, anchoring the side with a vital 61 off 55 balls (4 fours, 2 sixes) before falling to Mushangwe in the 19th over (120/4, 18.3 ov). Mushangwe struck again two balls later to trap Tabatha Saville lbw for 6 (5 balls, 1 four) (121/5, 18.5 ov). In the final over, Amy Smith was run out by Mehta for 1 (123/6, 19.2 ov), and Ruth Johnston fell for 3 (5 balls), caught by Paris Bowdler off Zoe Cooke (125/7, 19.5 ov). Lower-order batters Hayley Silver-Holmes (1* off 1) and Mia Barwick (2* off 1) finished off the innings, guiding Hobart Hurricanes Women to 127/7 in their allotted 20 overs.

ACT Women’s bowling attack was led by Anesu Mushangwe, who finished with stellar figures of 3/23 in 4 overs. Zoe Cooke (1/23 in 4 overs), Amber Smith (1/13 in 3 overs with 1 maiden), and Shivani Mehta (1/10 in 2 overs) kept tight control, supported by tight spells from Angelina Genford (0/10 in 2 overs), Amy Hunter (0/29 in 3 overs), and Stella Wilde (0/18 in 2 overs).

The chase for 128 runs began in dramatic fashion as Hayley Silver-Holmes produced a lethal opening over. She struck twice in two balls, dismissing Shivani Mehta for a golden duck (7/1, 0.3 ov) and Paris Bowdler for 7 off 3 balls (4s: 1) (9/2, 0.4 ov), both caught off her bowling. ACT Women managed to steady the ship temporarily through Grace Lyons and Rachel Carroll. Lyons crafted 24 off 29 balls (3 fours), while Carroll contributed 14 off 21 balls (1 four). Together, they shared a 41-run stand for the third wicket to bring ACT Women back into contention.

Hobart’s spinners quickly turned the game on its head. Amy Smith broke the partnership by bowling Carroll (50/3, 8.2 ov). Silver-Holmes returned to take her third wicket, dismissing Caitlin Mair for 7 (10 balls, 1 four) (58/4, 10.3 ov). Hobart captain Heather Graham then trapped her counterpart Lyons lbw for 24 in the 12th over (66/5, 11.2 ov). Amy Smith followed up with a brilliant double-wicket spell, stumping Stella Wilde (1 off 7) (72/6, 13.3 ov) and trapping Angelina Genford lbw for a duck (72/7, 13.5 ov).

Amber Smith attempted a late recovery with a brisk 18 off 18 balls (1 four) alongside Anesu Mushangwe (16* off 16 balls). However, Ella Hayward ended the fightback by bowling Amber Smith (89/8, 17.1 ov) and stumping Amy Hunter for 3 (95/9, 17.6 ov). Ira Aery wrapped up the match in the 19th over by having Zoe Cooke caught by Amy Smith for 1, rolling ACT Women out for 100 in 18.5 overs.
