Taking the crease first, Lancashire openers Eve Jones and Emma Lamb got off to a steady start, stringing together an opening stand of 48 runs before Alice Monaghan broke through by dismissing Lamb (26 off 38 balls, 1×4). Eve Jones continued to anchor the innings alongside Tilly Kesteven, adding 35 runs for the second wicket before Kate Coppack bowled Jones for a patient 24 off 53 balls. Kesteven then became the focal point of Lancashire’s innings, playing a brilliant, solitary knock of 85 off 109 balls featuring 7 boundaries.
Middle-order support was hard to come by as captain Eleanor Threlkeld (9 off 22) was caught off Danielle Gregory at 109/3, and Skye Thomas (11 off 21) fell to Gregory at 138/4. Kesteven found a reliable partner in Seren Smale, as the pair added 47 crucial runs for the fifth wicket before Sune Luus cleaned up Smale for 23. Chasing a rain-revised target of 178 runs from 38 overs, Surrey Women suffered an early setback when Alice Monaghan was dismissed for a duck off Tara Norris with just 4 runs on the board. Rachel King (30 off 42) and Phoebe Franklin stabilized the chase with a solid 59-run second-wicket partnership.
