Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Canada set a target of 93 runs, finishing their 20 overs at 92/4 behind a steady half-century-scale effort in the top order. Argentina’s reply never really took off, as the Canadian bowling unit ruthlessly ripped through the batting lineup to skittle them out for just 43 runs in 16.3 overs. Canadian star all-rounder Vritti Dahiya took center stage, top-scoring with 37 before returning to clean up Argentina’s lower order with figures of 3 for 4, earning the Player of the Match award.

Vritti Dahiya proved to be the backbone of Canada’s first innings, holding one end together with a patient knock of 37 runs off 59 deliveries. While she struck just 1 boundary, Dahiya navigated the bowling smartly, rotating strike. Hasini Santhoshkumar was handy for 25 (40), after losing openers cheaply. Argentina’s bowlers tried to plug the run flow, with Lara Finocchio Cagnin emerging as their most effective bowler after picking up 1 for 8 in her 2 overs. Canada kept wickets in hand entering the final overs, pushing their total up to a defendable 92/4 at the end of their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing 93 at under 4.7 runs per over, Argentina’s top order needed a steady opening partnership to stay on course. However, Canada’s opening bowlers kept a tight leash right from the opening over, maintaining relentless accuracy and putting constant pressure on Argentina’s batters. Sharp fielding inside the 30-yard circle restricted easy singles, forcing the Argentinian top order into forced shots and early mistakes. Wickets began to tumble early, leaving Argentina reeling well behind the required run rate.

Argentina’s middle order found no relief against Canada’s tight spin-and-pace setup. Only Milagros Bestani managed double digits for Argentina, top-scoring with a dogged 12 off 18 balls, but she lacked sustained support from the other end. Vritti Dahiya made her mark with the ball as well, coming into the attack to wrap up the tail with clinical precision. She finished with unbelievable figures of 3 for 4 in just 1.3 overs, wiping out any remaining resistance. Sanjana Rao also bagged a 3-fer as Harper Chalmers bagged a couple. Argentina were bundled out for just 43 in 16.3 overs, handing Canada an emphatic 49-run victory and boosting their standing in the qualifier points table.
