After being asked to bat first, Netherlands Women started aggressively and immediately put the Scotland bowlers under pressure. Heather Siegers looked in excellent touch from the outset, taking on the new ball with confidence and timing. Alongside Phebe Molkenboer, she stitched together a brisk opening partnership of 26 runs in just 2.2 overs. Molkenboer struck a boundary during her quick 5 off 5 balls before Kathryn Bryce provided Scotland with the breakthrough, dismissing her to halt the early momentum.

Despite losing the first wicket, the Netherlands innings continued to move at a healthy pace thanks to Heather Siegers’ attacking intent. The opener smashed 32 runs from only 16 deliveries, including seven boundaries, and added another 21 runs with skipper Babette de Leede. Just when the Dutch side seemed ready to accelerate further, Abtaha Maqsood removed Siegers at 47/2 in 4.1 overs, shifting momentum slightly back towards Scotland.

Captain Babette de Leede attempted to stabilize the innings with a composed 14 off 14 balls, but Scotland’s bowlers kept striking at crucial intervals. Priyanaz Chatterji dismissed De Leede at 69/3 in the ninth over, ending an important 22-run stand between De Leede and Robine Rijke. Rijke then became the central figure in the Netherlands batting effort, anchoring the innings beautifully while rotating strike consistently.

Rijke found support from Sanya Khurana as the pair added 28 runs for the fourth wicket. Khurana contributed a useful 5 before falling to Kirstie Gordon at 77/4. Soon after, Rosalie Ann Lawrence managed just 1 run, with Chloe Abel striking to reduce Netherlands Women to 78/5 in 10.2 overs. At that stage, Scotland Women had firmly clawed their way back into the match through disciplined bowling and timely breakthroughs.

The recovery for Netherlands Women came through a valuable sixth-wicket partnership between Robine Rijke and Frederique Overdijk. The duo rebuilt the innings patiently and added 53 important runs. Rijke top-scored with a determined 46 off 44 balls, hitting five boundaries, before she was dismissed by Priyanaz Chatterji in the 19th over. Overdijk also made a handy contribution of 22 from 23 balls with three fours, helping Netherlands reach a respectable 141/8 in their 20 overs. Iris Zwilling added 4, while Caroline de Lange remained unbeaten on 3.

Scotland Women’s bowling attack shared the responsibility impressively. Kirstie Gordon was the standout performer with figures of 3/27 in four overs, consistently breaking partnerships in the middle phase. Kathryn Bryce picked up 1/31 and struck early, while Katherine Fraser delivered an economical spell of 1/19 in four overs. Priyanaz Chatterji claimed 1/22, Abtaha Maqsood took 1/14, and Chloe Abel chipped in with a wicket as Scotland maintained control during the death overs.

In reply, Scotland Women approached the chase with confidence and clarity. Openers Darcy Carter and Katherine Fraser immediately seized control of the innings with an aggressive opening partnership worth 100 runs. Carter was particularly fluent, attacking anything loose and finding the boundary regularly. She hammered 55 runs off just 37 deliveries, smashing eight fours and one six in a superb knock that put the Netherlands bowlers under immense pressure.

Fraser complemented Carter perfectly with a calm yet authoritative innings. While Carter dominated initially, Fraser steadily accelerated and punished the bowlers through the off side. Their partnership effectively took the game away from Netherlands Women before Frederique Overdijk finally broke through by dismissing Carter at the score of 100 in 10.5 overs.

By then, however, the result was virtually sealed. Katherine Fraser carried on brilliantly and remained unbeaten on 56 from 41 balls, striking 10 boundaries in a classy match-winning innings. Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce joined Fraser and ensured there were no further hiccups, finishing unbeaten on 23 off just 12 deliveries with three boundaries. The pair added an unbroken 44-run partnership for the second wicket as Scotland Women comfortably reached 144/1 in only 14.5 overs.

The Netherlands bowlers struggled to contain Scotland’s aggressive batting lineup. Frederique Overdijk was the only wicket-taker with figures of 1/18 in two overs. Heather Siegers conceded 23 runs, Silver Siegers gave away 25, Caroline de Lange returned 0/27, and Isabel van der Woning endured a difficult outing, conceding 29 runs in just one over that included five wides.
