Yorkshire Women, after being asked to bat, began cautiously but lost an early wicket when Blackwell departed at 27/1 in 5.5 overs, setting the tone for a stop-start innings. Lauren Winfield-Hill anchored the top order with a composed 36 off 41 balls, stitching together a brief but steady partnership with Jess Jonassen. However, wickets kept falling at regular intervals, Jonassen fell at 64/2 (12.6 overs), followed soon by Winfield-Hill herself at 68/3 (13.3 overs). Sterre Kalis couldn’t capitalize and was dismissed at 74/4, leaving Yorkshire under pressure.

The middle phase saw Maddie Ward (19 off 16) and Ami Campbell (12 off 18) attempting to rebuild, but Somerset’s disciplined bowling attack kept striking. Erin Thomas played a crucial stabilizing role with 24 off 38 balls, forming a key partnership with Rachel Slater, who later remained unbeaten on 26 off 23 balls. Their effort pushed Yorkshire past the 150-mark despite regular breakthroughs, with Claudie Cooper adding a handy 13. Yorkshire eventually posted 178 in 33.5 overs, with extras contributing 15 runs.

Somerset’s bowling unit delivered a collective performance. Alex Griffiths was the standout, claiming 4 wickets for just 22 runs in 8.5 overs, dismantling the middle and lower order. Chloe Skelton matched the impact with 4 wickets of her own, conceding 42 runs in her 10 overs. Supporting contributions came from Niamh Holland (1/46) and Lola Harris (1/36), while Ellie Anderson bowled economically without picking a wicket.

Chasing 179, Somerset Women had a shaky start as Niamh Holland fell early at 5/1 in just 1.3 overs. Rebecca Odgers (31 off 37) then steadied the innings with a crucial partnership alongside Heather Knight, who added 5 runs before departing at 23/2. Odgers continued to anchor before being dismissed at 62/3 (12.3 overs), bringing Sophie Luff to the crease. Luff’s innings proved to be the backbone of the chase, as she crafted a patient and determined 76* off 101 balls.

Despite her presence, Somerset kept losing wickets at intervals. Dani Gibson (6), Jess Hazell (18), and Alex Griffiths (1) fell in quick succession, leaving the score at 101/6. Chloe Skelton and Ellie Anderson couldn’t contribute significantly, and at 115/8, the match was hanging in the balance. However, Lola Harris played a gritty knock of 18 off 55 balls, supporting Luff in a vital lower-order partnership that revived Somerset’s hopes.

The drama peaked when Harris fell at 170/9 in the 44.2 overs, leaving Somerset needing just a few runs with one wicket in hand. Olivia Barnes held her nerve alongside Luff as they guided the team to 179/9 in 46 overs, sealing a memorable one-wicket victory.

Yorkshire’s bowlers fought valiantly. Claudie Cooper led the attack with 3/28 in 9 overs, while Jess Jonassen and Rachel Slater picked up two wickets each, maintaining pressure throughout. Beth Langston and others contributed economically, but the lack of a final breakthrough cost them the match.
