Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced a cash incentive of Rs 50 lakh for Indian cricketer Sneh Rana, lauding her contribution to India’s World Cup win and her remarkable journey from the state’s roots to the world stage.

Sneh Rana played a pivotal role in India’s campaign during the 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup, delivering steady contributions with both bat and ball throughout the tournament. Coming in as a reliable all-rounder, she registered crucial wickets against top sides—taking two wickets each in matches against South Africa, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka—showcasing her ability to break partnerships and build pressure at vital moments.
With the bat, Rana chipped in valuable runs lower down the order, adding 99 runs from five innings at an impressive average of 49.5, often ensuring India kept momentum in tense situations. She also picked up 7 wickets with the ball in six innings with best bowling figures of 2 for 32.
While she experienced a challenging outing against Australia, conceding 85 runs in a single match—a record for the most expensive spell by an Indian spinner in World Cup history—her overall campaign remained upbeat thanks to her consistent wicket-taking and quiet resilience with the bat.
Rana’s all-round efforts greatly contributed to India’s progress in the tournament, reaffirming her status as one of the team’s key players and an inspiration for aspiring cricketers from Uttarakhand and beyond.
In a personal gesture, the Chief Minister called Sneh Rana to congratulate her on being part of the Indian women’s squad at Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. He extended his best wishes for her continued excellence and expressed confidence that she would play a key role in India’s pursuit of the coveted trophy.
Sneh Rana, who hails from Sinaula village near Dehradun, has been one of the standout performers in Indian women’s cricket, admired for her all-round ability and calm presence under pressure. Her journey from domestic cricket to international recognition continues to inspire young athletes, particularly girls aspiring to represent the country.
Announcing the Rs 50 lakh incentive, CM Dhami praised the 30-year-old for bringing glory to Uttarakhand through her dedication and discipline. He said, “Sneh Rana has brought glory to Uttarakhand on the world stage through her hard work, determination, and talent. Her success is an inspiration for our youth, especially for young girls. The state government is committed to providing the best support and encouragement to sportspersons.”
The Chief Minister further reiterated his government’s resolve to promote sports infrastructure and talent development across the state, emphasizing that Uttarakhand’s sportspersons have the potential to shine globally with the right opportunities and encouragement.
Rana’s rise has been a story of perseverance and passion—a reflection of how athletes from smaller towns can reach the pinnacle of world cricket through relentless effort. Her recognition by the state not only celebrates her personal achievement but also signals a growing commitment to nurturing women’s sports in Uttarakhand.
