The sixth match of the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2025, played on August 22 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, saw an intense battle between the North Delhi Strikers Women and East Delhi Riders Women. The competitive match was set up when the North Delhi Strikers won the toss and decided to bat first.

In their allotted 17 overs, the Strikers scored 118 runs, losing 5 wickets. Their innings was anchored by a brilliant unbeaten knock from wicket-keeper batter Laxmi Yadav, who displayed remarkable composure and skill to score 48 runs off 34 balls alongside skipper Ayushi Soni scoring 40 off 31 deliveries. Her patient knock was pivotal in guiding the North Delhi Strikers to a defendable 118/5.
In response, the East Delhi Riders fought a determined chase. Their top order played valiantly with several useful contributions, starting with Vanshika Lila (24 off 21), keeping the required rate within reach throughout the innings.
However, despite efforts from Aarna Dudeja who scored a magnificent half-century (56* runs off 51 deliveries) with the bat partnered by skipper Priya Punia (24 off 16), the Riders managed to reach 116 runs for 4 wickets in their 17 overs, falling just short by 2 runs in a thrilling finish.
The bowling units from both sides showed great discipline. For the Riders, Sumiti Soni emerged as a key wicket-taker, claiming crucial wickets (3-0-15-3) at important junctures to apply pressure on the Strikers’ lineup.
On the other side, Shivani Jangid led the bowling effort for the Strikers, picking up figures of 2 for 19 in her 4 overs spell, dismissing top players early and helping to keep the Strikers’ score in check.
With this win, the North Delhi Strikers gained essential points and momentum to sign off their campaign on a high, while the winless East Delhi Riders will look to regroup and come back stronger in the upcoming season.
Shivani Jangid was the standout player of Match 6 in the Women’s Delhi Premier League 2025, playing a pivotal role in North Delhi Strikers Women’s narrow 2-run victory over East Delhi Riders Women.
