Karishma Ramharack’s four-fer helps West Indies seal top spot in Group B

Bangladesh led by skipper Nigar Sultana Joty was up against the West Indies led by skipper Hayley Matthews in the 13th match of the tournament at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews won the toss and opted to field first. After being inserted to bat first, the Bangladesh openers Shathi Rani and Dilara Akter got their side off to a good start with an 18-run opening partnership.

Karishma Ramharack picked up the wicket of Shathi Rani to provide the first breakthrough for the West Indies. Dilara Akter soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 2nd breakthrough for the West Indies, with Ramharack taking her 2nd for the match. Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty joined Sobhana Mostary at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 40-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take them close to the 100-run mark. Ramharack returned and picked up the wicket of Sobhana Mostary to provide the 3rd breakthrough for her side.

Bangladesh were eventually restricted to 103/8 in their quota of 20 overs. Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty was the lone warrior for her side (39 off 44 balls), and Dilara Akter (19 off 18 balls), and Sobhana Mostary (16 off 22 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Bangladesh. Karishma Ramharack (4-0-17-4), Afy Fletcher (4-0-25-2), skipper Hayley Matthews (4-0-19-1), and Ashmini Munisar (4-0-20-0) were the top performers with the ball for the West Indies.

Chasing a target of 104, the West Indies openers Stafanie Taylor and skipper Hayley Matthews got their side off to a solid start with a 52-run opening partnership. Shemaine Campbelle joined Stafanie Taylor, who shortly after retired hurt, struggling with her running between the wickets and Deandra Dottin replaced her at the crease to join wicket-keeper batter Campbelle. However, Nahida Akter soon picked up the wicket of Campbelle to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.

West Indies eventually got over the line with 8 wickets in hand and 43 balls to spare. Skipper Hayley Matthews (34 off 22 balls), Stafanie Taylor (27* off 29 balls), wicket-keeper batter Campbelle (21 off 16 balls), and Deandra Dottin (19* off 7 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the West Indies. Marufa Akter (3-0-20-1), and Nahida Akter (3-0-22-1) were the top performers with the ball for Bangladesh.

Karishma Ramharack was awarded the Player of the Match for her match-winning spell of 4-0-17-4 with the ball.
