Players to Watch

Ashleigh Gardner: 

The swashbuckling all-rounder will captain the Governor-General’s XI. She is an attacking right-handed middle-order batter and a right-arm off-spinner. She has featured in 49 ODIs for Australia and muscled 667 runs, including four half-centuries. She has also claimed 53 ODI wickets.

Amanda-Jade Wellington: 

The wily right-arm leg-spinner of Australia will feature for Governor-General’s XI. She has been a part of the Australian setup for quite some time. In 14 ODIs, she has accounted for 18 wickets. She is an economical bowler and has an uncanny ability to break crucial partnerships.

Bismah Maroof: 

The captain of Pakistan is one of the prolific batters in the side. The left-handed top-order batter has registered more than 3000 ODI runs in 121 matches. She can also roll her arm over to bowl a bit of leg-spin and has 44 ODI wickets, including a four-fer in her kitty.

Nida Dar: 

She is arguably the best all-rounder in the Pakistan team. A right-handed middle-order batter and a right-arm off-spinner, she has a wealth of international experience. She has accumulated 1423 runs and bagged 89 wickets in 96 ODIs. She has been a vital cog of the team.

Pitch

The venue has hosted 16 women’s ODIs, the last being played in October 2020. Out of the 16 games played here, the teams batting first have won eight, the teams batting second have won seven, and one was abandoned. The highest total scored is 325, and the lowest is 93. Expect a fresh deck and batting-friendly conditions. A high-scoring contest could be on the cards.
