Meg Lanning completes 100 ODI Matches for Australia in World Cup Finals

Meg Lanning, the Australian Captain reached a huge career milestone on Sunday in the Final of the 2022 Women’s World Cup as she represented Australia in her 100th one day international. The No.3 batter has been one of the greats of this generation across various formats of the game. In ODIs, Lanning is considered an all-time great as her records and number suggest that.

Debuting in 2010, Lanning has been a huge part of the Australian setup since then. In her 100 matches, she has scored 4453 runs at an average of 53.65 with 15 centuries and 19 fifties. She has been an important top-order batter scoring runs at the opening and no.3 position.

Looking into her record against specific opponents, Lanning has scored 1196 runs in 24 matches against New Zealand, 871 runs in 22 matches against England, and 645 runs against team India. She has 400+ against all top-ranked sides like South Africa, Sri Lanka, and West Indies. She has scored most of her centuries against New Zealand with 6 hundred.

Lanning has a terrific home and away record scoring 1849 runs in 41 matches at home and 2604 runs in 59 matches away. She has scored more centuries than the fifties overseas with 10 hundred and 8 fifties. Lanning became the full-time captain for Australia in 2014. Since taking the Captain’s role, Lanning has led the side in 75 matches and has scored 3400 runs with 11 centuries and 15 fifties. Lanning has scored 938 runs in 22 world cup matches.

Currently, Lanning who’s coincidently playing her 100th ODI and World Cup Final at the same time will be making sure to score the big in the Final against England and win her 2nd World Cup as a player and First World Cup as a Captain.
