Bismah Maroof ruled out of T20 World Cup with fractured thumb, Nahida Khan announced as replacement

It was revealed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) that Bismah got a fracture in her right thumb which would require surgery.

“Bismah will have surgery in Sydney after consulting the orthopedic surgeon of Cricket Australia,” the PCB said in a statement.

Her injury is a point of worry for Pakistan squad and their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals is shaken as Bismah is not just the captain but team’s senior-most batter with 108 One-day Internationals and as many T20 International appearances to her credits.

Pakistan had beaten the West Indies in their first match and Bismah scored an unbeaten 39 in Pakistan’s first-round win over the West Indies.

The board said that senior player Javeria Khan will become the captain of the team in its remaining two group matches against South Africa and Thailand and Nahida Khan will replace Bismah once the technical committee of the tournament approves the change.
