Eagles Women produced a commanding performance in the Zimbabwe Women’s T20 Cup 2026, chasing down Mega Market Mountaineers Women’s competitive-looking score with remarkable ease at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo on August 24. The Eagles’ run chase was built around a superb unbeaten partnership between Betty Mangachena and Vimbai Mutungwindi, while their bowlers had earlier restricted the Mountaineers to a manageable score. The result was emphatic, with Eagles Women completing a 10-wicket victory in just 17.1 overs, underlining their control throughout the contest.
Mega Market Mountaineers Women were asked to build their innings carefully, and Chipo Mugeri Tiripano gave them the perfect platform at the top of the order. She played with intent and found the boundary regularly, eventually scoring 38 from 25 balls with eight fours and a six at a strike rate of 152.00. Her opening partnership with Nyasha Gwanzura provided the foundation for the Mountaineers, as the pair put together 68 runs before Chipo was dismissed in the ninth over. She fell for 38 off 25 balls at 68-1 after being bowled by Shebina Maseko in the 8.5th over, bringing Pelagia Mujaji to the crease.
Nyasha Gwanzura then took responsibility for carrying the innings forward. She batted through the majority of the innings and produced an excellent unbeaten 73 from 63 deliveries, striking six fours and four sixes. Her second-wicket partnership with Pelagia Mujaji helped Mega Market Mountaineers Women recover strongly after losing their opener. The second-wicket partnership between Betty Mangachena and Vimbai Mutungwindi was the defining passage of the match. After the Eagles lost Chatonzwa at 10-1, the pair combined for an unbeaten 137-run stand that took the game completely away from Mega Market Mountaineers Women. They attacked the bowling without taking unnecessary risks, consistently finding gaps and putting away loose deliveries. Betty’s 71* ensured the chase had an experienced anchor, while Vimbai’s 49* kept the scoring rate moving. Together, they guided Eagles Women to 147 without further loss in just 17.1 overs, completing a convincing 10-wicket win.
The Mega Market Mountaineers Women bowlers struggled to break the partnership after Chatonzwa’s early departure. Kudzai Chigora bowled three overs for 17 runs, taking no wickets, while Audrey Mazvishaya conceded 19 runs from her three overs. Passionate Munorwei was taken for 26 runs in four overs, despite picking up no wickets. Nyasha Gwanzura, who had earlier played a key role with the bat, conceded 30 runs from three overs. Shanel Machado bowled one over for 11 runs, while Tawana Matandauri conceded 27 runs from two overs. Monique Mushanyu bowled 1.1 overs and conceded 12 runs.
