In the latest episode of “Dressing Room Diaries,” Delhi Capitals Head Jonathan Betty praised the team’s relentless spirit, highlighting the challenge of maintaining high standards after a short recovery period.

“Guys, that was an absolutely outstanding finish to our time here in Bangalore. What a way to go, to back up yesterday’s brilliant performance, with another brilliant performance tonight. Full credit to every single one of you in here because that’s not easy to do. To pick yourselves up again after probably a poor night’s sleep. To go against another really good team and put in a whole team performance like that was really, really good,” he commended.

Special mentions went to debutant Nallapureddy Shree Charani, who bowled an impressive 2 for 28, and Shikha Pandey, who took 2 for 24. The team’s success was further bolstered by Marizanne Kapp’s 1 for 18.

In the run chase, Jess Jonassen continued her stellar form with a half-century, leading the team alongside Shafali Verma. The pair forged an unbeaten 146-run partnership for the second wicket, which marked a record in itself. Jess Jonassen reached her second WPL half-century with an unbeaten 61 off 38 balls, while Shafali Verma scored her first half-century of the season with an explosive 80* off 43 balls.

Despite losing captain Meg Lanning early, Delhi Capital’s determination prevailed. Jonassen and Verma’s partnership ensured a smooth, unbeaten chase of 148 runs. Nallapureddy Shree Charani broke the crucial third wicket stand between Ellyse Perry and Raghvi Bisht, proving herself as an impactful addition to the team.

“Work’s not done yet, yes, we’ve got a Q (Qualification) by our names, okay, still a really big game to come in Lucknow, which will define what happens to us when we get to Mumbai. Obviously brilliant to get that first hurdle on the Q, the qualification for the final series, okay, but we need to keep moving forward, keep going at that, and keep looking to improve,” with qualification secured, the Capitals are focused on the next challenge.

As Delhi Capitals celebrate this milestone victory and debutant Shree Charani receives the special Capitals Tiger award for her debut spell, the team remains vigilant about maintaining momentum and striving for improvement.

The WPL has once again showcased the depth and talent in women’s cricket, with the Capitals clearly making a statement about their ambitions for the championship. With their sights firmly set on the playoffs, Delhi Capitals are well-positioned to make a strong push for the title.
