One of the most iconic names in women’s cricket, Ellyse Perry, has achieved yet another milestone. Following her dazzling performance against UP Warriorz in the 9th match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, Perry has surpassed Meg Lanning to become the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 835 runs in 22 matches. She also became the first player to score 800 runs in WPL history.

Perry’s WPL campaign this year has been nothing short of spectacular. Her previous notable performances include a blistering 57 off 34 deliveries while chasing a stiff target of 202 against Gujarat Giants, and a magnificent 81 off 43 balls against Mumbai Indians where the rest of her team struggled consistently. This most recent, classic knock of 90 unbeaten off 56 balls only added to her impressive tally, leaving fans in awe of her batting prowess.
Perry’s success in the WPL is no surprise, given her incredible form last season where she emerged as the Orange Cap winner, amassing 347 runs in just 9 matches. Her highlights from the previous season include a crucial 35* in the final and a 66 off 50 deliveries in the playoffs.
She has also shouldered the responsibility of leading the team’s charge as she is the highest run-scorer for Royal Challengers Bengaluru and holds the records for the most sixes, fours, and 50+ scores for the team.
With this impressive knock of 90*, Perry has also equalled Lanning’s record for most 50s in WPL history (7), showcasing her remarkable consistency. Furthermore, she is tied with Tahlia McGrath for the 4th highest individual score in WPL. She is also the current orange-cap holder leading with 235 runs in just 4 matches.
As Perry continues to break records and weave her magic on the field, it’s clear that she will leave an indelible mark on the WPL and go down in history as one of the league’s all-time greats.
