The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 is almost here, promising a month of exciting cricket and non-stop entertainment. As the countdown begins, the inaugural champions, Mumbai Indians are training hard for their first match against two times runners-up Delhi Capitals on February 15.

The team has a powerful coaching staff, led by head coach Charlotte Edwards along with bowling coach & mentor Jhulan Goswami, batting coach Devika Palshikhar, and fielding coach Nicole Bolton.
Mumbai Indians brought some excitement to their fans as they posted a fun video on their social media handles. The video featured a six-hitting challenge between two of their coaches, Charlotte Edwards, England’s World Cup-winning captain, and legendary former Indian bowler Jhulan Goswami, the highest wicket-taker in women’s ODI history. The two coaches took turns, trying to hit sixes with Jhulan emerging victorious with a score of 3-2.
The MI players were fully invested in the challenge, cheering on their favourites with comments like, ‘Come on Lottie, I believe in you’ and ‘Well Done Jhulu Di’. One of them even joked that the bowler should be scared now given the impressive six-hitting skills on display. Enjoying the banter, Jhulan Goswami said, “I learnt my batting skills from her (Charlotte Edwards)”.
The friendly rivalry ended on a high note, with both coaches sharing a warm hug. Charlotte jokingly said, “It was very good today, but we’re going to have a rematch in a week’s time, aren’t we?” Jhulan responded with a witty remark, saying that she is eagerly anticipating Charlotte’s second defeat.
The light-hearted video gave the Mumbai fans a glimpse into the team’s camaraderie and playful spirit as they witnessed both the coaching staff and players enjoying the challenge. Beyond the fun and games, this moment reflected the strong bond between the coaching staff and players, fostering a positive environment.
Mumbai Indians will be eager to replicate the same enthusiasm, unity, and winning mentality that saw them clinch the title in WPL 2023. With excitement brimming in their camp, they will be determined to script another historic chapter in the tournament and establish themselves as one of the most dominant teams in the league.
