Bangalore’s chase began steadily but stumbled at 39 for a loss of 3 wickets. However, Richa Ghosh and Perry’s partnership of 76 runs secured Bangalore a spot in the playoffs. Perry’s all-round brilliance earned her the Player of the Match title. She dismantled Mumbai’s batting with figures of 6 wickets against 15 runs in her spell of 4 overs and contributed 40 runs including five boundaries and a maximum with the bat. Bangalore sealed the win with seven wickets and five overs to spare, joining Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals in the playoffs.

Her opening partnership of 43 runs with Hayley Matthews proved crucial in the match. Sajana contributed a total of 30 runs, including 5 boundaries and a maximum, with a strike rate of 142.85. Perry and Smriti shared a few words of encouragement with her post-match, and fans praised the gesture by the seasoned players. They also expressed their desire to see Sajana perform at the international level.

Ellyse Perry’s historic spell

Her extraordinary display on the field left spectators in amazement as she defied all expectations with a spellbinding performance. She dismantled the opposition’s batting lineup, dismissing key batters, Sanjeevan Sajana for 30 runs, followed by Nat Sciver-Brunt for 10 runs, Harmanpreet for a duck, Amelia Kerr for 2 runs, and Amanjot Kaur and Pooja Vastrakar for 4 runs and 6 runs respectively. Her stellar performance not only secured the victory but also helped Bangalore secure a spot in the playoffs. Smriti reached the 400 mark

She struggled to convert her starts last season, managing only 149 runs last season. However, in this edition, she has already accumulated 259 runs, including two half-centuries, with 80 runs being her highest score. Though she departed cheaply scoring 11 runs in the last match of the league stage, she became the fourth Indian to surpass the 400-run mark in the WPL.

Bangalore Qualify for playoffs

Following UP Warriorz’s defeat, the Gujarat Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore were both competing for a spot in the playoffs as were the Warriorz. However, Bangalore’s 7-wicket triumph against the Mumbai Indians secured them a place in the playoffs. Fans were delighted to see their team qualify, as they couldn’t manage to do so in the first edition.
