In the 18th match of the 2024 Women’s Premier League (WPL) between Gujarat Giants and UP Warriorz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, the former won a close game after heroics from Deepti Sharma went in vain.
Beth Mooney won the toss and elected to bat first as it has been the trend in Delhi-leg so far. Gujarat Giants openers Laura Wolvaardt and Beth Mooney gave a good start at the top again with a partnership of 60 runs. Notably, this season, the pair have scored 258 runs in partnership from 5 outings, at an average of 51.6 with one fifty and one-century run stands each.

When UP Warriorz came in to bat they had to chase down the total in nearly 14.3 overs to go over RCB in NRR, but Gujarat bowlers, 16-year-old Shabnam Shakil in particular, had some other plans as they created havoc at the top, reducing UP Warriorz to 35-5 in 7 overs.
