Bangladesh had a winning start to their campaign, defending their total of 119/7 by 16 runs. In their second game against England, Fahima Khatun (2/18), Ritu Moni (2/24), and Nahida Akter (2/32) starred in a collective bowling effort that restricted England to 118/7. In reply, Bangladesh’s innings revolved around Sobhana Mostary’s 44 (48), with Nigar Sultana Joty (15) being the only other player to score in double digits, mustering 97/7 and falling short by 21 runs.
West Indies lost their season opener to South Africa by 10 wickets after being restricted to 118/6. In their second game against Scotland, Afy Fletcher’s three-wicket haul, coupled with economical efforts by the remaining bowlers, helped restrict Scotland to 99/8. In reply, Qiana Joseph’s 18-ball 31 bailed the team out of early trouble, and the duo of Deandra Dottin (28*) and Chinelle Henry (18*) closed out the game for the side with 6 wickets to spare.
Head-to-head in T20Is, Bangladesh and West Indies have played only 3 T20Is, with their most recent outing dating back to November 2018. The West Indies have won all games, holding a clear advantage heading into this game.
