Chinelle Henry’s All-Round Effort Helps West Indies Secure Comprehensive Win Over Scotland

Scotland led by skipper Kathryn Bryce was up against the West Indies led by skipper Hayley Matthews in the 8th match of the ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Scotland skipper Kathryn Bryce won the toss and opted to bat first. The Scotland openers, wicket-keeper batter Sarah Bryce and Saskia Horley got their side off to a steady start with a 13-run partnership. Skipper Hayley Matthews picked up the wicket of Saskia Horley to provide the first breakthrough for the West Indies. Wicket-keeper batter S Bryce soon followed her back to the pavilion to provide the 2nd breakthrough for West Indies.

Ailsa Lister joined skipper Kathryn Bryce at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 46-run partnership for the 3rd wicket to take their side past the 50-run mark. Afy Fletcher struck twice in two balls to bring West Indies firmly back into the contest. Scotland eventually ended up with a total of 99/8 in their quota of overs. The 22-run 7th wicket partnership between Katherine Fraser and Darcey Carter played a crucial role in helping Scotland get closer to the 100-run mark.

Ailsa Lister (26 off 33 balls), skipper Kathryn Bryce (25 off 31 balls), and Darcey Carter (14* off 15 balls) were the top performers with the bat for Scotland. Afy Fletcher (4-0-22-3), Chenille Henry (4-2-10-1), skipper Hayley Matthews (4-0-21-1), and Karishma Ramharack (4-0-24-1), were the top performers with the ball for the West Indies. Chasing a target of 100, West Indies got off to a poor start as they lost the wicket of Stafanie Taylor in the first over of the innings with Rachel Slater providing that first wicket for Scotland.

Qiana Joseph joined skipper Hayley Matthews at the crease and the duo stitched a much-needed 27-run partnership for the 2nd wicket to settle the nerves in the West Indian dugout. Priyanaz Chatterji picked up the big wicket of the opposition skipper Hayley Matthews to provide the 2nd breakthrough for her side.

West Indies eventually got over the line with six wickets in hand and 50 balls to spare. Qiana Joseph (31 off 18 balls), Deandra Dottin (28* off 15 balls), and Chinelle Henry (18* off 10 balls) were the top performers with the bat for the West Indies. Olivia Bell (3-0-18-2), Rachel Slater (2-0-17-1), Priyanaz Chatterji (1-0-15-1), and skipper Kathryn Bryce (3-0-22-0) were the top performers with the ball for Scotland.

Chenille Henry was awarded the Player of the Match for her brilliant all-round performance. She returned with match figures of 4-2-10-1 with the ball and scored an unbeaten 18 off 10 balls with the bat. She played a crucial role in helping her side get West Indies their first set of points.
