The 9th edition of the Women’s Twenty20 (T20) World Cup is underway in the United Arab Emirates, running from October 3 to 20, 2024. Over 18 days and 23 matches, 10 teams will battle for the coveted title. Match 3 between South Africa and the West Indies will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, on October 4, 2024, at 3:30 PM Indian Standard Time (IST). South Africa has competed in four T20I series this year, overcoming setbacks from a 1-2 loss to Australia away and a 1-2 home defeat to Sri Lanka. They bounced back by drawing a 3-match series against India and winning 2-1 against Pakistan, both away series. Although South Africa lost both their official T20 World Cup warm-up matches, they remain a team to watch.
The West Indies, having played only two T20I series this year, most recently in June 2024, handed Pakistan a 1-4 defeat in April and then secured a series win against Sri Lanka with back-to-back wins after being 0-1 down. Despite their strong run, the Windies also lost both official warm-up games but put up competitive performances, showing promise for the tournament.
Head-to-head, the West Indies hold an edge with 14 wins from 22 matches, including one no result, against South Africa, but they have won just one of their last four meetings against South Africa.
