The International Cricket Council (ICC) has revealed the ticket prices for the upcoming 2024 T20 Women’s Cricket World Cup.
With less than a month to go for the ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, to be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the ICC has disclosed that ticket prices will start at only five dirhams, with free tickets for those under 18. The tournament is set to commence on October 3, with Dubai International Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Ground hosting the matches for this edition. With affordable ticket pricing, the ICC aims to create a lasting legacy, marking the first-ever Women’s World Cup hosted in the UAE.
The ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup was initially set to be hosted by Bangladesh, but following social and political crisis, the tournament has been shifted to the UAE.
To mark the announcement, the ICC also released a video featuring a spectacular laser show at the iconic Burj Khalifa.
In recent years, the UAE has hosted major tournaments, including the 2021 Men’s Cricket World Cup and the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024.
ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice emphasized the inclusive and diverse nature of the upcoming 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup, positioning it as a “home World Cup” for all 10 participating teams. Allardice highlighted the significance of fan support from various communities, making the event feel welcoming for players from every nation.
The decision to make tickets affordable, starting at just five dirhams and offering free entry for under-18s, reflects the ICC’s commitment to accessibility and ensuring that as many fans as possible can attend the tournament.
“It’s a place where the entire world is represented! This means that this is effectively a home World Cup for all 10 teams, and players can enjoy the support of passionate fans. With that in mind, I’m delighted to announce today that tickets will be available from just five dirhams, and under-18s will go free,” Allardice stated.
