Players to watch

Nahida Akter:

The talented left-arm spinner of Bangladesh was the pick of the bowlers in her last warm-up fixture against India. She accounted for 24/2 in three overs, striking twice inside the powerplay. She was brilliant with the new ball.

Nigar Sultana Joty: 

The skipper of Bangladesh led the run chase from the front in the last warm-up game against India. The right-handed middle-order batter scored 40 off 36, including three boundaries and a six. She held the innings together and was in the middle from the sixth to 19th overs.

Chamari Athapaththu: 

The captain of Sri Lanka won the player of the match award in the last encounter against South Africa. The left-handed opening batter muscled 68 off 50, including a dozen boundaries. She anchored the team’s innings well and was there till the 18th over.

Inoka Ranaweera: 

The wily left-arm spinner of Sri Lanka was the most successful bowler for her side in the last fixture against South Africa. She snapped 18/3 in four overs and was effective in the middle and death overs. She was also the most economical bowler for her team.

Pitch

It will be the tournament’s third match at the venue, with the second being played early in the day. In the last game played on February 10, more than 250 runs were scored, and 13 wickets fell. Though the wicket looks favourable for batting, there is some assistance for the bowlers. A riveting battle between bat and ball could be on the cards.

The weather is expected to be partly sunny and cooler but pleasant. The maximum temperature attained during the day will be 26 degrees Celsius. There will be a 45 percent cloud cover and a one percent chance of rain. The wind will blow from the south.
