South Africa have announced their world cup squad and it is going to be interesting to just analyze as to how good they are given that they always have the players who could turn it around for them but in some way or the other they eventually fall short. Mind you, the conditions should suit them as they have a fantastic bunch of fast bowlers and some extraordinary talent with the bat as well which could go a long way in helping them to lift that title which has always been eluding them.
So let’s look at the players to watch out for.
#1. Dane Van Niekerk
Niekerk the skipper has played 76 games and scored 1699 runs. In the process, she has also picked up 58 wickets which makes her such a vital all-rounder in this side. Her leadership along with her performance could go a long way in how South Africa shapes up in the upcoming tournament.
#2 Mignon Du Preez
M Du Preez has played 95 T20I’s for South Africa and has scored 1569 runs and is one of the best batters in this Protea side. She is also the wicketkeeper in this side which makes her a really important player in the setup.
#3 Shabnim Ismail
Shabnim is a ferocious bowler and will be the key for South Africa in these Australian conditions with her swing and bounce. She is a genuinely good pacer and has picked 92 wickets in 84 T20 is and is nearing the landmark of 100 wickets in this tournament.
#4 Sune Luus
Luus is a very peculiar kind of an all-rounder. We generally don’t see all-rounders who bowl leg-breaks quite often in international cricket, but Luus having played 67 T20I’s has picked up 41 wickets and also scored 613 runs in the process which will make her a certainty in this side.
#5 Lizelle Lee
Having scored almost 1500 runs in only 66 games with 11 half-centuries to her name, Lizelle Lee is one of the most entertaining batters in this South African setup and will look to be out in the thick of things every time the opportunity arises.
So these are some crucial players for South Africa this time for their upcoming World cup and will look to fight it out hard Down Under. They play their first game against England on the 23rd of Feb 2020 at the WACA, Perth.
