Always an unpredictable side, be it Men’s or Women’s cricket, Pakistan has announced their squad for the upcoming World T20 and have quite a few surprises for their fans. So let’s look at their squad first.
Bismah Maroof, Aimen Anwar, Aliya Riaz, Anam Amin, Uncapped Ayesha Naseem, Diana Baig Fatima Sana, Iram Javed, Javeria Khan, Muneeba Ali, Nida Dar, Omaima Sohail, Sadia Iqbal, Sidra Nawaz (WK), Syed Aroob Shah.
Now the most surprising omission from this squad has been of Veteran player and former captain Sana Mir. All-rounder Sana Mir has been regular in all formats for Pakistan but a dip in form and slump in performances have urged the selectors to look elsewhere which has not gone too well with a lot of Pakistan and Sana Mir fans.
Now, who could be the game changers for Pakistan is the big question? Let’s take a look at the top 5 players to watch out for.
#1 Bismah Maroof
Bismah will be leading this Pakistan side and has been the most consistent batter for Pakistan for a while now with 2183 runs in 106 games which is a lot of experience in this format and she surely holds the key with this batting attack of Pakistan.
#2 Nida Dar
How good Nida Dar has been in T20Is is a testimony of her making it into the ICC T20 team of the year as well for 2019 and her performances have been too good with both bat and ball. Especially with the ball, she has picked up 92 wickets in 98 games and with the bat has 1086 runs and she is a certainty in this side.
#3 Javeria Khan
Javeria Khan is another batter with a lot of experience under her belt, also has been regularly featuring a lot in this Pakistan set up and also someone who will be really crucial in this line-up with the bat. Having played 97 games Javeria has scored 1744 runs and will be an important member in Pakistan’s World Cup campaign.
#4 Muneeba Ali
22-year-old Left-handed batter Muneeba Ali has been included in the squad on the basis of her performance in the domestic T20 tournament in Pakistan where she represented PCB Challengers and scored 292 runs in 5 games with 1 century to her name which also made her the highest run-getter in the tournament. Muneeba surely is an exciting talent and it will be interesting to see her approach in the tournament.
#5 Anam Amin
27-year-old left-arm spinner Anam Amin is making a comeback into this squad and was also a star performer with the ball in the recently concluded National Triangular T20 Cricket tournament representing PCB blasters where she picked up 7 wickets in 5 innings and was the highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
So lots of fresh faces in this Pakistan Line up. It’s always exciting to see a Pakistan Outfit in a sporting event as they bring so much thrill with their unpredictability. So let’s see how this side fares in the coming world cup.
