One final leap to glory for Indian Women’s Cricket Team

Indian team is living a dream run in the ongoing ICC world championship. The shortest format of the game has had the best out of the Indian side.

The team has remained unbeaten and is now all in readiness to face the mighty Aussies in their own backyard. This Indian outing has been most memorable of all the previous ones. The side with its heavy spin attack has been a challenge for all other contenders in the tournament. While the teams have failed comprehensively against the outright attack of Shafali Verma in the top order, Indian spinners have played on their prime and have looked tight to defend any respectable total.

Nonetheless, the road to the finals had paths that teams want to avoid. As the rain came down mercilessly and the encounter faded with every drop of rain, India and England had to settle without a result with India benefitting from its consistency in the league stages and four great victories. The semi-final has drawn up a lot of comments from cricketing fraternity around the globe. ICC could not allot a reserve day even on the request of Australia and has rightfully warranted reactions from the whole world. Nonetheless, the Indian side has now received wishes from all sides of the road.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli penned a warm message for the side on his twitter wall. He correctly mentions that the whole country is proud of their ladies and a win at this stage for India, after suffering recent men outings in ICC events, could mean a mile for fans.

This is the right moment for Indian women to take the center stage and lead the path alongside their male counterparts. Indian women can attain the aura enjoyed by men in their backyards. However, this will send a message to the whole world as well. It shall give a boost to smaller countries who may dare to dream. However, these tales are easier said than done, beating Aussies in their own backyard is never easy.

Aussies have been one of the most consistent sides in world cricket and facing them in a final of ICC event won’t be easy for any group. The Indian team will look to capitalize on their spin trap and the batters will find ways to take the burden off Shafali’s shoulders. Indian top order and middle batswomen need to find ways to anchor the innings and stay till the last bowl. India would look to chase, and Aussies would not give anything on offer. Indian fans from the sub-continent and throughout the globe look with eyes wide to get their maiden trophy after a while.
