Hosts are the defenders of the title this year and will definitely look forward to keeping the trophy back home, they will take on India on 21st February in the opening of this ICC event in Sydney Showground Stadium.

Aussie Superstar and World cup winner Michael Clarke feels that the Australian Women’s team has won the most World Cups in the shortest format are the most eligible ones to lift the trophy and they have the most world cup experiences too. Australia remain favorites for the T20 Trophy this year.

He boldly predicts them as the winners already.

“I think it’s great for women’s cricket that there’s been so much publicity and promotion. If there’s one team in the world, certainly in this country, that deserves the credit and deserves the publicity it’s the Australian women’s cricket team,” the International Cricket Council (ICC) quoted Clarke as saying.

Under Clarke’s leadership, the men’s team lifted the ICC ODI World Cup trophy in 2015, dominating the Kiwis in the finale.

Alex Blackwell, former Australian cricketer, who won three T20 World Cups, said the build-up to this year’s World Cup was historic, and nothing like she had ever seen before in her life.

“There’s a huge amount of momentum leading into this tournament, cricketing greats on the side of buses, there are ads on TV, the social media’s gone mad – it’s unbelievable! We should be excited because some of the best cricketers the game’s ever seen will take part,” Blackwell said.
