Know Your Player – Shafali Verma

An aggressive right-hand opener, Shafali Verma has made headlines just 14 matches into her T20I career. She became the youngest Indian player to play T20I women’s cricket when she debuted last year at home against South Africa at the tender age of 15. She is also the youngest Indian woman to hit a half-century in T20I cricket. She already shares a record Indian opening stand with Mandhana. Varma’s ability to go hammer-and-tongs at the opposition also gives plenty of leeway to her senior partner to build a solid foundation at the other end.
