16 Year Old Anagha Murali is excited to meet and learn from Seniors at Women’s T20 Challenge

Dreams often come true. The Cricket field has seen a million dreams come true and shatter. The upcoming season of Women’s T20 Challenge, or the WIPL as we call it, youngsters who are willing to give their best to make their dreams realize.

The story of Anagha Murali is similar. She is just 16 years old and has been picked up to play in women’s IPL. She makes her mark as one of the youngest players selected to make her appearance felt in the tournament.

While talking to Bipin Dani of Deccan Chronicle she said that “I am very happy to be part of the team consisting of many seniors. It will also help me to interact with players from other countries. It is like a dream come true for me. I want to make the most of this opportunity given to me”.

It is interesting to know that the young star was locked in Mumbai as part of the quarantine protocols set in place for players slated to take part in the tournament. The report has further revealed that Anagha is interested and skillful in sports other than cricket. She swims well and plays lawn tennis.

She reveals that “I started playing Lawn Tennis when I was five years old, and learned swimming subsequently. I used to play tennis ball cricket alongside these sports from the beginning. One of my father’s friends saw me playing cricket and told my father to enroll me in informal cricket coaching”.

Her cricketing journey started with Heron Cricket Club. Mr. Muralidhar was the first one to spot the talent of the young girl. In recent times, however, Anagha has not left the cricket field as she tells media personnel that she has been training at Six Academy under the supervision of Mr. Jeshwant. She adds that “After I came to know about the selection, I had a couple of focused sessions at the Academy to hone my bowling, batting, and fielding”.

Her dad reveals further that Ravindra Jadeja is the favorite player on the cricketing field for her daughter. It is heartening to know that he has left his job at an MNC for supporting her daughter in her career as a professional cricketer. Youngsters will have a wonderful stage to establish themselves on the top of the ladder in the important tournament.
