Winning the toss and choosing to bat, Warwickshire Women made an aggressive start through Davina Perrin and Abigail Freeborn, who immediately put the Surrey attack under pressure. The opening pair stitched together a superb 88-run partnership for the first wicket, laying the ideal platform for a substantial total. Perrin played an elegant knock of 50 from 39 deliveries, striking six boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 128.20, before she was caught by Jemima Spence off Anna Buckle. At the other end, Freeborn matched her partner stroke for stroke, producing a classy 51 off just 33 balls, including eight fours and a six, scoring at 154.54 before becoming Buckle’s second wicket. Their opening stand ensured Warwickshire were firmly in control during the powerplay and beyond.

Following the dismissal of the openers, Georgia Redmayne continued the momentum with a brisk 28 off 21 balls, finding the boundary four times while maintaining a strike rate of 133.33. She shared a useful 25-run partnership with Katie George, who added 9 from 11 balls, before George was stumped by Spence off Danielle Gregory, leaving Warwickshire at 140/3. Amu Surenkumar was unfortunately run out without scoring, briefly slowing the innings, but Mary Taylor ensured the hosts finished strongly with an unbeaten 23 from 13 deliveries, smashing three boundaries at a strike rate of 176.92. She added an unbroken 24-run partnership with Chloe Brewer, who remained 1 not out, while 10 extras also boosted the innings as Warwickshire completed their 20 overs on 172/5.

Surrey Women’s bowlers experienced a difficult outing against Warwickshire’s aggressive batting lineup, although several bowlers managed timely breakthroughs. Anna Buckle was the standout performer, returning figures of 2/35 from her four overs, dismissing both Perrin and Freeborn to briefly check Warwickshire’s progress. Danielle Gregory picked up 1/26 in four overs, accounting for Katie George while maintaining an economical spell. Bryony Smith bowled two overs for 20 runs without a wicket, Alice Monaghan conceded 44 runs in four overs, Kalea Moore finished with 0/23 from four overs, and Alice Davidson-Richards bowled two overs for 18 runs. Surrey were also assisted by a run-out of Amu Surenkumar, but Warwickshire’s finishing flourish prevented them from restricting the total.

Needing 173 for victory, Surrey Women required a fast start but lost captain Bryony Smith after a counterattacking 30 from 23 balls, including five boundaries and a six. Before her dismissal by Hannah Baker, Smith had added 51 runs for the opening wicket alongside Alice Davidson-Richards, giving Surrey early hope in the chase. Davidson-Richards followed with a determined 39 off 36 deliveries, striking four fours while anchoring the innings. However, the momentum shifted rapidly as Jemima Spence departed for 5, ending a brief 12-run second-wicket stand, before Paige Scholfield managed only 2, leaving Surrey at 63/3.

Warwickshire tightened their grip through disciplined bowling and regular wickets. Davidson-Richards and Phoebe Franklin put together a fighting 23-run partnership for the fourth wicket before Franklin fell after scoring 17 from 17 balls. Alice Monaghan contributed a quick 12 off 8 deliveries, sharing 18 runs with Davidson-Richards, but both batters departed in quick succession, reducing Surrey to 86/5. Ayish Cranstone attempted to rebuild with 4, adding 19 runs alongside Kalea Moore, who scored 2, before both were dismissed. The ninth-wicket pair of Danielle Gregory (11* off 9) and Anna Buckle (2 off 8) remained unbeaten with a 23-run partnership, but by then the asking rate had climbed well beyond reach. Surrey finished on 130/9 in 20 overs, falling 42 runs short of the target.

Hannah Baker struck twice for 32 runs, dismissing Bryony Smith and Kalea Moore, whereas Amu Surenkumar returned figures of 1/18 in four overs, accounting for Alice Davidson-Richards during an economical spell.
