In the 29th match of the 2026 edition of the Women’s Super Smash, Canterbury Magicians will take on Northern Brave at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch. The Magicians have had one of their worst seasons in history as they have lost 8 out of the 9 games they have played so far. Lea Tahuhu, the skipper will be absolutely disappointed looking at her team’s performance but will still be looking to put up a fight to guard their honor. As they gear up to take on Northern Brave, here are the top 3 players to look out for:

Izzy Sharp
Izzy Sharp, the New Zealand top-order batter, has played a couple of good knocks in the tournament so far. In her T20I career, she has scored 25 runs from 3 innings at a strike rate of 104. This season, she has amassed 244 runs, being one of the most consistent batters in her side. She has the ability to get good starts for her team but somehow misses out on converting those starts into big numbers, yet managing two fifties in 9 innings, with the highest of 65*. She could be a player to watch out for considering her good touch and she will be hungry for more runs, especially in a phase where her team is struggling to find form.
Lauren Smith
Lauren Smith, the Australian bowler, has been a fine bowler for Canterbury Magicians and she can also contribute with the bat. She is yet to represent her national side but has gained fame over her consistent performances in the WBBL. In her 4 matches this season, she has picked up 5 wickets and chipped in adding 38 runs. She picked up two wickets in her last match against Wellington Blaze. She could be a valuable asset for her side with her ability to hit the length well and pick up crucial wickets at an economical rate.
Sarah Asmussen
Sarah Asmussen, the New Zealand bowler, has been arguably one of their best bowlers in the tournament. She has been quite outstanding with the ball this season, despite not receiving any international call-ups. She has picked up 11 wickets in the 9 matches for the Magicians. She even scalped a sensational 3-wicket haul in the previous match against Wellington Blaze. With some more support from the bowling unit, she could work wonders for her side but as of now the bowling unit seems to be a bit too reliant on her for results.
