Indian stars Smriti Mandhana, Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj see a big drop in their rankings. England’s Sophie Ecclestone, South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp, and Laura Wolvaardt see big gains in the ICC ODI Rankings.
Mithali Raj who’s had a bad start to the world cup has scored dropped three spots to 7th position. While Smriti Mandhana who scored a fabulous 123 saw herself getting out of the top 10 and dropped to 11th position due to lack of consistency. Jhulan Goswami who’s playing her last World Cup recently became the most successful works cup bowler with 40 wickets saw a drop in her rankings to 6th position from 4th.
Laura Wolvaardt, the South African opener who has scored back-to-back 70s has jumped from 12th to 5th position breaking into the top 10. Amy Satterthwaite who has scored 2 great 50s in the last 2 matches moved up to 3rd position in batting rankings. While, West Indies opener, Hayley Matthews who has had a great world cup both with bat and ball has moved to 2nd position from 4th in the all-rounder rankings.
Sophie Ecclestone who’s been no.2 ODI bowler for quite some time was finally able to surpass Jess Jonassen and claim the top spot in ICC Women’s ODI bowler rankings. Marizanne Kapp who took the first five-wicket haul in the 2022 world cup against England moved up to no.4 in bowlers and no.3 in the all-rounder category. Ashleigh Gardener who made her comeback in the match against New Zealand scored a handy 48 and took 2 wickets for 15 runs also saw a rise in the all-rounder rankings to no.7
