On a double-header Monday, March 14, both Pakistan and Bangladesh will try to be at their very best in the first match of the day that starts at 3:30 AM (IST) as they search for their 1st win of the 2022 World Cup. For Pakistan, it is a do-or-die game as they have lost all of their 3 games while it will be the 3rd match for ODI World Cup debutants Bangladesh.

  1. Pakistan Women tour of England and Ireland (August 20, 2012)

In their first-ever ODI meeting, a 109 runs partnership between Nain Abidi (54) and Bismah Maroof (67) took Pakistan to a total of 180 with the loss of 6 wickets. The partnership with the bat was followed by 4 wicket hauls each to Sana Mir and Sadia Yousuf that got the team a 42 runs win over Bangladesh.

A decent performance by Bangladesh batters made them defend the target of 162 after Nida Dar’s 3 wicket haul along with other good bowling spells didn’t let them maintain a settled partnership. Though Bangladesh’s bowler tried hard to fight back, taking the match to the last over, Pakistan won the match by 4 wickets with 3 balls to spare.

Rumana Ahmed’s 44, Lata Mondal’s 4/35 (8), and Jahanara Alam’s 3/22 (10) guided Bangladesh to their first-ever ODI win against Pakistan. A win that came on their home ground saw, Bangladesh being bowled out at 152 but went on to tumble down Pakistan at 109, winning by 43 runs.

In a low-scoring game, Bangladesh registered their 2nd consecutive win despite a player of the match figure by Sana Mir taking 4 wickets conceding 26 runs (3 maidens) in 10 overs trying to defend the target of 88. However, Bangladesh lost 7 wickets but got to the target with 91 balls to spare.

A captain’s knock of 92 (128) by Bismah Maroof took Pakistan to a good total of 214 and a 3-wicket haul for Anam Amin saw Rumana Ahmed’s fighting 70 in vain as Bangladesh fell 21 runs short of the target, finishing at 194 for 9. Maroof was adjudged as the player of the match for her brilliance with the bat as well as a wicket conceding 10 runs in overs with the ball.

An outstanding figure with the ball for Anam Amin taking 4 wickets bowling 5 maidens giving away just 7 runs in her 10 overs saw Pakistan restrict Bangladesh to 123 with the loss of 9 wickets. A target they achieved with 69 balls to spare and 6 wickets in hand.

Playing an ODI against each other after almost 2 years, Bangladesh bowled out Pakistan but not before they reached a defendable total of 227. With just 2 played reaching the individual score of above 20- Sanjida Islam (34) and Nigar Sultana (41), Pakistan got a 67 runs win to their name.

An unbelievable 6 wicket haul along with 3 catches by Khadija Tul Kubra conceding 20 runs (1 maiden) in her 9.5 overs crushed Pakistan at 94 with the 3 top order batters being the only double-digit scorers for them. It was a victory to celebrate for Bangladesh on their home soil as they reached the target comfortable with 126 balls to spare.

Opener Nahida Khan’s 68 helped Pakistan put up the score of 215 in Lahore. A target which Bangladesh felt short of by 30 runs despite an applaudable 58 by the lone fighter for the team, wicket-keeper Nigar Sultana. With the bowl, Jahanara Alam recorded a 3-wicket haul conceding 44 runs for Bangladesh while it was Sana Mir with 3/49 for Pakistan.

It was Nahida Khan yet again with her 63 leading Pakistan to 210 on the scoreboard. However, in a last-over thriller, Fargana Hoque’s 67 after a good start from the openers Murshida Khatun (44) and Sarmin Sultana (27) took the win to Bangladesh’s side this time. Hoque was adjudged as the player of the match in the game that her team won by 1 wicket and 1 ball to spare.

  1. ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup Qualifiers (November 21, 2021)

The last of their 11 ODI meetings to date was during the 2022 World Cup qualifiers in November last year. The thrilling match saw Nida Dar’s 87 and Aliya Riaz’s unbeaten 61 taking Pakistan to 201 in their 50 overs but Rumana Ahmed’s crucial knock of unbeaten 50 off 44 deliveries took the game away from them as Bangladesh won the match by 3 wickets with 2 balls to spare.
