World cricket is mourning the sudden passing of Shane Warne. The news has been shocking and the cricketing world is completely shaken. In these tough times, we saw an amazing act by Australia spinner Alana King who gave her tribute to the fallen Spin King through her performance against England in the 2022 World Cup on Saturday 5th March.
Playing her first World Cup Alana King was bowling excellent leg breaks throughout the match. In the 27th over, King took the big wicket of Tammy Beaumont who was batting at 74. As a response to taking the wicket, King tapped on the black armband that the team had worn as a sign of honor to Shane Warne.

“She’s been inspired today … because in her thoughts is Shane Warne,” said Kerry O’Keefe on the air on Fox Sports.
“It’s a beautiful rotation of the ball. Warnie loved bowling right-handers around their legs. He’d be proud. He’d be looking down on the wicket and saying, ‘well did, girl.’” He added.

The young spinner finished the match with an excellent figure of 3 for 59 taking the wicket of Beaumont, Jonas, and Dunkley and helped Australia win the match by 12 runs. The 26-year-old debut for Australia in the recently concluded ODI series against England before the 2022 World Cup. She played 3 ODIs and took 3 wickets.
Australia started off the world cup on a winning note as they defeated England by 12 runs. Vice-Captain Rachel Haynes scored an excellent 130 and has a record-breaking 196 run partnership with Captain Meg Lanning who scored 86. This helped Australia Post 310 on the board. The Aussie women were excellent with the ball as Alana King took 3 for 59 and was supported by Tahlia McGrath who took 2 for 51 and Jess Jonassen who took 2 for 18. For England, Nat Sciver scored an unbeaten 109* and Tammy Beaumont scored 74 which went in vain as they lost the match by 12 runs.
