One player and two support staff have tested positive. The rest of the squad left for New Zealand on Wednesday via Singapore Airlines flight at 1:20 am. The ICC Women’s World Cup commences on March 3.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s women wing chairman Shafiul Alam Chowdhury said, “Our national women’s team is heading to New Zealand for taking part in the World Cup. Among them, one player and two officials were found positive on Wednesday.”

The three members who have tested positive will undergo another test after eight days. With strict quarantine rules in place in New Zealand, they are expected to join the squad on February 14 or 15.

“We are hoping to arrange another test for them after eight days and expectedly they would make their trip to World Cup on February 14 or 15,” said Chowdhury.

After a little drama, Bangladesh added veteran Jahanara Alam to their squad at the last moment. The defending Asian Champions will look to make the most of their maiden appearance at the 50-over World Cup.
