2019 was a year to rejoice for women cricketers. In particular, the cricketers who come from a nation where cricket is not something which is widely spoken of. Yet, if we look across formats with the white ball cricket being played by women in 2019, the Top 5 run-scorers in T20i’s in the year 2019 does give us some surprising statistics.

5) Smriti Mandhana (India)

The Indian opener has had a phenomenal season with the bat also making it into ICC’s T20i team of the year. At an average of 31.15 in 14 innings scoring 405 runs and holds the key to this current Indian batting line up when they will take the field in Australia for the T20 world cup.

4) Danielle Wyatt (England)

The English opener is a magnificent striker of the cricket ball and can make any bowling attack look weak on her day. Scoring 422 runs in 13 innings at an average of 35.16, she has also made it to the ICC T20I team of the year and surely is one of the players to watch out for in England’s campaign at the T20 world cup.

3) Bismah Maroof (Pakistan)

Pakistan’s frontline batter Bismah Maharoof is at no.3 with staggering numbers to her name. She averages 41.72 in 14 innings and has scored 459 runs and is also Pakistan’s go-to batter every time they have been in dire need of a solid start. She will surely look to create the same impact in the T20 world cup as well in the year 2020.

2) Natakkan Chantam (Thailand)

Having qualified for the very first time into an ICC tournament, Thailand as a cricket playing nation has taken a leaf from the Afghanistan men’s cricket team and stormed their way to the World T20 which will begin in February 2020. Opening batswoman Natakkan Chantam has scored 498 runs in 24 innings at an average of 29.29 with two half-centuries to her name. She will get to showcase her talent in the upcoming world cup which is an exciting prospect for Thailand as a cricket playing nation.

 Opener Naruemol Chaiwai has score 517 runs this year in 25 innings at an average of 25.85. Topping this list with the most runs this past year will surely add up to her confidence with the biggest event of her career coming in 2 months’ time.
