Another Century stand from the opening duo of Scorchers leads to 4 defeats in a row for Sixers against Scorchers at Perth on Sunday.
Winning the toss, Lanning opted to bowl on a good batting surface. Sixers changed their opening combination with Erin Burns replacing Armitage who failed to perform at the top. The dashing opener Healy went out for a duck on the very first ball of the match by giving a return catch on the bowling of Sciver. The makeshift opener and Gardener built a good partnership for sixers. Both had a partnership of 82 runs which was dominated more by the latter. Both the players scored half-centuries. Ashleigh Gardener was aggressive and she scored fifty in 40 balls. Later Once she departed Burns took the responsibility and scored 60 runs in 45 balls, she got some support from Armitage and Vane Niekerk which helped them to reach a target of 164 for 6 in 20 overs. With the ball, it was Betts who was impressive with a couple of wickets.
Chasing the score of 165, the opening duo of Scorchers were impressive and this time it was Lanning who was more dominant as she scored another half-century. She played a match-winning knock of 81 runs in just 50 balls with 9 boundaries and 2 sixes. She got good support from the opening partner Jones who scored a responsible 41. With her dismissal came in Sciver even she played a decent knock of 39 runs. After an impressive knock of 81 runs, Lanning in the verge of finishing it soon spooned a catch to the Armitage. Later, Sciver along with the Bolton finished up the game for Scorchers with 4 balls remaining.
This is the fourth defeat in a row for Sixers, looks like they are definitely missing their Captain Perry in the middle.
